Laura Mulvey's theory.

Laura Mulvey's 'Male Gaze' theory is all about seeing a women from a male perspective in music videos and films. Laura Mulvey talks about how we always see women as sexy and tall and how the camera pans up and down her slowly and slowly going over womens breast for men to stare. Laura Mulvey claims that within music videos and films that women are used as an object for the male eye. Saying that once the audience decode the video they will be able to see that women are being sexualised.

The three things that Laura Malvey claims you will see in music videos are. The first one is the perspective of the male this is the camera angles and the way she looks, the second one is perspective of the spectator this is what the audience are seeing, and the third one is both of them put together.

How we will encode this into our video is by giving shot of the female actress by panning up and down her body showing of her elegance throught the video. Also we will have longer shot on the female actor at one time. This will follow up Laura Mulvey's theory and can give the audience a chance to decode the video through Laura Mulvey's theory.

The clip on the left hand side is a shot from the start of the song 'call on me' by Eric Prydz. The song demonstrates Laura Mulvey's theory by panning up and down women whilst they work out in a sweat and tight costumes. It shows sex appeal which appeal to men who will stare and watch the music video over and over again.
